SCOPE:

The scope of the proposed improvements will include installation of a new traffic control signal system, new turn lanes, and new sidewalks. The new traffic control signal system will provide full vehicle and pedestrian detection, railroad and emergency vehicle pre-emption, and utilize energy efficient LED signal indications, providing an annual maintenance cost savings to the Town.

To help improve the traffic flow through the intersection, dedicated turn lanes will be added by widening the pavement. Curb, sidewalks, and pedestrian access ramps will be reconstructed and additional on-street parking spaces will be provided. Additionally, streetscape elements will be incorporated into the design including flush cobblestone medians and tree plantings.  All work will be completed within the existing town right of way.

The majority of the work will occur during the 2009 construction season with the final top course of pavement placed in the spring of 2010.
