2008 Roads Program
Contractor D&R Paving completed the paving of the downtown area on Main Street from Monument Square to Sudbury Road on Friday evening October 30th. All paving work was completed during nighttime hours to minimize disruption to the businesses, traffic and residents. The work included the reconstruction of handicapped ramps to eliminate puddling areas. Additionally, the Vanderhoofs municipal parking lot was reconstructed at the same time. Remaining work within the 2008 contract includes the completion of handicapped ramps and two sidewalk panels within the new concrete sidewalk between the Sally Ann Food Shop and Stow Street. This work is anticipated to be completed the week of November 9th.
2009 Roads Program
Contractor PJ Albert completed paving of Sudbury Road between Heath's Bridge Road and Route 2 during the week of October 26th. Drainage work within Plainfield Road was completed the week of November 2nd and the reclaimation and fine grading of the road began November 5th. Binder course pavement and the new sidewalk will be installed the week of November 9th. Plainfield Road will be left at binder course pavement grade over the winter with the top course pavement being installed within the Spring of 2010. Additionally, Revolutionary Road, Walnut Street, Chestnut Street and Ridge Road will receive top course pavement installation within the spring of 2010. Pavement installation is complete on Laurel Street, Walden Terrace, Middle Street, Academy Lane and College Road.
